This woodwind quintet arrangement opens with oboe in a minor key followed by the melody, requiring some fast keywork on the part of the oboist. A pretty flute accompaniment adds an airy feel to the oboe line. In the second section the flute performs a series of runs, and is answered by the clarinet and horn. A trio section pairs flute with horn and clarinet with bassoon. The piece concludes with a return to the second section.
